Great place to visit
Very interesting, beautiful park with well-prepared exhibiotions. Pyramides are really impressive and you may feel like you are in the South America. The museum and the exhibition about Heyerdahl are impressive. I liked the stories of his travels and the models of the ships. Also, the quiz for children is a cool thing which gave us a lot of fun (questions are not obvious and it is worth to find the answers). Pyramides of Guimar park is in my opinion one of the most interesting places on Tenerife (especially if you like history).
Brilliant Piramides de Guimar

Absolutely excellent, throughly enjoyed 5 hours of history, adventure and intrigue.
Recomend the audio guide, very well laid out and linked together the concept nicely.
I was excited to see Thor Heyerdall RA 2 boat large size replica and details of his voyages ( I last read when I was a little child).
Piramides were fascinating.
My wife thinks it is one of the best things to do on Tenerife and so do I.
Very Interesting Visit
We visited on 30th Jan and this proved to be much more engaging than we anticipated. The exhibits and information provided were extremely good, the entire facility was immaculate and well presented. The Heyerdahl exhibits (and theories) were particularly good. This turned out to be one of the best visitor experiences in Tenerife. Can easily spend half a day in these surroundings. Good value for money.
A fascinating day out with history
We travelled by public transport from Puerta de la Cruz to Guimar, but it was a journey that was well worth it. Start with the auditorium (or the coffee shop as we did) which gives an overview of the theories and expeditions of Thor Hayerdahl (of Kontiki fame). Models of the reed boats give an idea of the problems of crossing the oceans.
Outside there is the poison garden, including the tree that produces the poison used by the Russians in London to kill with the poisoned tip of an umbrella. The Tropicarium has some lovely plants including the fascinating Darwin orchid.
The walk around the pyramid complex takes you past the recently discovered cave. Certainly a very full day; take a picnic as there are plentyof places to sit down to eat.
At €18 adult price for everything, it is not particularly cheap, but does include the audio-guide. There are cheaper options if your time is limited.
Interesting and worth a visit

This is a pleasant and informative museum. Plenty of information in Spanish, English and German and I learned a lot about the explorer Thor Heyerdahl. If you are very interested in plants, it may be worth paying the extra for the plants and poisons garden, but the basic ticket was fine. If you have teenagers, ask for student tickets (no identification needed) - child discount up to 12 only. There's a small gift shop and café for drinks & snacks. A pleasant 90 minutes.
